Made from Grey Elm that was a dying tree in Toronto. The design evolved from the pieces of wood, two bookmatched crotch slabsthat had dramatic "Y" shapes. Reclaimed southern yellow pine, Steel
The "Joist On White" console is the third in a trio of consoles that were produced as a series in 2008. Each of the other two consoles where on view at and sold through Voos. These pieces are perfect for the entrance or entry hall to any home or apartment. This particular console features a removeable top in old growth southern yellow pine which was reclaimed from a factory floor in Hoboken NJ. The wood, as a function of both its age and species, is very dense and hard. The base of the console is hand fabricated in 1/2" x 1" solid steel bar, with tig welded connections. Each leg meets the floor with a stainless steel thumbscrew for easy leveling.

C-beam can be used in homes and offices as a work desk, a conference table or an informal dining table. When developing the table, our intent was to develop a true eco-friendly piece with a genuine modernist and urban feel and to avoid the expected earthy-flavored look and feel of typical "green" pieces. All materials are green and/or recycled including a top made of Forbo Eleganza®, a linoleum produced from renewable materials, with a Medex® substrate, a sustainable, moisture resistant, medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel utilizing a formaldehyde-free adhesive system and 100% post-industrial wood fibers. Also the piece is shipped in a flatpack.Finally C-beam calls for appropriate fabrication and economy of means, while not compromising the design. For example, the four legs are made of one aluminum i-beam split in half for maximum material yield. Currently in the showroom.

Upholstery, foam products and finishes are all supplanted with thick sheets of natural wool felt, adhered with non-toxic, water-based adhesives. The Floor Perch is a pouf, coffee table and storage device combined in one. The soft and solid stack of high-density felt sheets catches the eye and comforts the bottoms of the feet. The subtly torqued volume is intersected by angular aluminum inserts, creating voids for storage within and a hard surface on top to keep your beverage close by. The scraps of felt generated during fabrication are reused in other Mickus Projects pieces, such as the Refill Pillow/Panel System. Currently in the showroom.

The IRIS COFFEE TABLE is constructed from reclaimed bourbon barrel staves and black steel. The Küpe line is crafted from used bourbon barrels from Bardstown, Kentucky, the Bourbon Capital of the world. The barrels are constructed from new white oak and charred on the inside to produce the unique flavor and color of the bourbon. These barrels are only used one time to age bourbon, after which some are sold and shipped to Scotland to make scotch. The remaining barrels are discarded by the distillery and often sold for firewood or planters. While many people have repurposed barrels for other uses, our intent is to work with the material in striking new ways. We begin by dismantling the barrels into to individual pieces, the staves, metal bands, and circular heads. We explore how these parts can work together to create a simple functional design while retaining the individual characteristics and natural colors of the aged wood from the original barrels, thus creating a new vernacular.
