Rosma Gutierrez
Rosma Gutierrez was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. She received a BFA in Industrial Design and Metalsmithing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After years working in both the Product Development and Jewelry industries, she attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she received an MFA in Furniture Design. While at RISD, Rosma worked to use home as a source of inspiration. It not only informs her work, but has helped develop a design language that is unique to her background and intrinsic to her personality.
Her current work, titled Petology, uses pets as a metaphor for emotional well being. It taps into the emotional connection we feeltoward pets and applies it to create objects with soul, personality, and a sense of companionship- objects that enhance your life because of how they make you feel.
