Ian Collings
Ian Collings is a recent graduate of Pratt Institute with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design. Ian’s designs are a beautiful result of surprising innovation, material sensitivity, and environmental response.
His innate desire to create meaning with his work has led to designs that are both sophisticated and engaging. Out of his sculptural intuition and exceptional ability to access the transformative nature of materials found in his urban environment have emerged highly developed testaments to form and functionality.
Ian's deep appreciation for craftsmanship has fueled a never-ending refinement of his skills and effective treatment of material and processes. As he seeks to deepen his understanding of all that surrounds him, his work continues to serve as a reflection of his sensitivity to our object relationships.

Reclaimed Timber, EVA foam, casters
Each set of Urban Driftwood Stools is unique unto itself. This is because each piece of reclaimed timber is hand selected and crafted in a way which retains the character of its previous life. All timbers used are reclaimed from NYC and handcrafted here in Brooklyn. Each stool is complete with smooth-glide casters and foam top for added comfort and easy movement. Currently in the showroom. The top of these end tables are made from reclaimed stone discarded by various counter-top manufactures around Brooklyn. The base was inspired by the many cranes, towers and bridges in the city to create a lightweight, solid structure to support the stone. Each table is unique to the piece of stone chosen. As shown sold-special order only.
