Bigprototype
Bigprototype is a Brooklyn-based design firm and fabrication lab founded by Yale School of Architecture graduates, John Nafziger and Sarah Strauss. Upon completion of their studies, the two began working for a design/build firm in Brooklyn, New York. In the spring of 2004, Strauss and Nafziger began their own company, utilizing the diverse and eclectic skill set they recognized in both their friendship and their professional partnership. Their design sensibilities meet to give their work direction, stemming from the incorporation and co-option of dynamic elements inherent in “living” objects and processes. Their commitment to hands on design is supported by their on-site shop facilities. The fabrication lab makes possible the testing, research, and enhancement of custom product designs and prototypes, as well as the experimentation and deployment of new materials and technologies.
