An honors graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology with over 10-years experience developing textiles, Andrea Porter is President of Arms & Barnes. Porter has an indispensable gift of finding abstract items from all over the world and transforming them into memorable pieces of furniture. Porter’s inspiration for creating memorable Arms & Barnes furniture is a combination of her cultured appreciation for art, travel, and passion for seeing the beauty in the oblique. In a few short years, Porter has already captivated the attention of many in the Art & Design industry where her star is rapidly rising. Porter resides in Manhattan with her husband and enjoys the finer things in life.

Scalloped Gate side table - Arms & Barnes

The center piece was a section of a larger gate found in upstate New York. The piece is set under a steel frame with a thick piece of glass housed within the frame. This deco style piece is set on 3 steel legs. It makes a great coffee table for a cozy seating arrangement. This unique piece was from a farm in Lancaster Pennsylvania. To create a more modern and clean look, this was sandblasted, brushed and finished with a clear protective powder coating. The glass top used for display is 28", but a custom piece can be made to make the table size 25” or larger. Originating in an old factory in York PA, this rectangular wood mold was once used to create decorative plaster molding. The reverse image of what it once produced, it makes a stunning decorative table. The whole piece rests in a simple dark custom steel frame.
